What Is An ECG Test?
An ECG (electrocardiogram) test is a non-invasive procedure that measures the electrical activity of the heart.
It records the heart’s rhythm, the size of the heart chambers, and the presence of any heart-related issues.
The procedure is non invasive and painless; whilst sat comfortably, small electrodes are attached to your body to measure your heart activity and a machine records this information, to be interpreted by your clinician.
Why Might You Need An ECG?
An ECG is commonly used when someone experiences symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or palpitations, as it helps doctors diagnose potential heart conditions.
Additionally, individuals with a family history of heart disease, those with high blood pressure, or people over a certain age might also be advised to have ECGs as a preventive measure.
